God gives knowledge to people who seek it

Caring for the poor and needy helps us prepare for a place in the celestial kingdom

I can help “advance the cause” of Christ and His Church

D&C 77:2, 6

Each day, we can approach the throne of God in humility and honesty. We can ponder our actions and review the moments of our day—considering our will and desires in light of His...This time of introspection is an opportunity for recalibration…If we seek it, surely “God shall give unto [us] knowledge by his Holy Spirit, yea, by the unspeakable gift of the Holy Ghost.”…We can... find our way back to our loving Heavenly Father if we seek... personal revelation, and strive for daily restoration.

D&C 78:1-4

One of Satan’s most powerful weapons is to distract us with good and better causes which, in times of need, may blind and bind us away from the best cause—the very work that called us into this world. Our eternal purpose is to come unto Christ and actively join Him in His great work... What a glorious time to be engaged in the cause of Christ!...Together, we will advance His purpose until that great day when Christ Himself returns to this earth and calls each of us to come “hither.”

Caring for the poor and needy helps us prepare for a place in the celestial kingdom

D&C 78:5-8, 13-14

As I saw the sick and the afflicted being helped and lifted, I bowed my head in gratitude. At that moment, I better understood what was meant by the King of kings, who said: “Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you … For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in”…“[W]hen we love God with all our hearts, He turns our hearts to the well-being of others”.

Caring for the Poor and Needy

The Lord will lead me along

The call to serve God matters more than where I serve

Caring for the poor and needy helps us prepare for a place in the celestial kingdom

D&C 78:17-18

When the children of Israel were wandering in the wilderness, the Lord guided their journey each day as they looked to Him for direction...His leading was constant, and I give you my humble witness that the Lord can do the same for us…He wants to be a part of our lives, to bless us, and to help us. He will heal our wounds, dry our tears, and help us along our path to return to His presence. As we look to Him, He will lead us.

I can receive all things with thankfulness

The call to serve God matters more than where I serve

The call to serve God matters more than where I serve

D&C 78:19, 22

We are surrounded by innumerable blessings that we can easily take for granted if we are not mindful. Conversely, when nothing is expected and everything is appreciated, life becomes magical...you will never be happier than you are grateful. The Lord declared, “And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious.” Perhaps this is because gratitude gives birth to a multitude of other virtues.

Missionaries throughout the world are united in this purpose...Together we will strive to know Him, remember Him, and serve Him....To those who will choose to serve, I can attest to the blessings that will come as you heed a prophet’s call. Serving is not about you; it is about the Savior. You will be called to a place, but more importantly you will be called to a people. You will have the great responsibility and blessing of helping new friends understand that the answer is Jesus.
