August 24-30

Because of the Savior’s mercy, I can be forgiven

Because of the Savior’s mercy, I can be forgiven

Because of the Savior’s mercy, I can be forgiven

Psalm 51:1-11

God cares a lot more about who we are and who we are becoming than about who we once were. He cares that we keep on trying… For us, because of God’s mercy and the Atonement of Jesus Christ, such a change is not just literary fiction…In His mercy, God promises forgiveness when we repent and turn from wickedness—so much so that our sins will not even be mentioned to us... No matter how wicked, we can say, “That’s who I was. But that past wicked self is no longer who I am.”

Come Unto Christ: 2014 Theme Song

Jesus Christ is my rock

Because of the Savior’s mercy, I can be forgiven

Because of the Savior’s mercy, I can be forgiven

Psalm 62:5-8

We are reminded in Helaman 5:12: “And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation..." If we build our foundation on Jesus Christ, we cannot fall! As we endure faithfully to the end, God will help us establish our lives upon His rock... Our entire lives should be filled with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel is not part of our life, but our life is actually part of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Lord will help me in my time of need

Because of the Savior’s mercy, I can be forgiven

My testimony of Jesus Christ can help others come unto Him

Psalm 69:1-3, 15-17, 33-36

God, who sees the end from the beginning, reassures, “Thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment,” and they shall be consecrated “for thy gain.”...

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” “I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; … that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.”

Our prayers can become more meaningful as we pray with an attitude of love, reverence and praise

My testimony of Jesus Christ can help others come unto Him

Psalm 71:15-24

[Y]ou have been reserved to come forth at this particular time when the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth…

When firmly planted, your testimony of the gospel, of the Savior, and of our Heavenly Father will influence all that you do throughout your life. It will help to determine how you spend your time and with whom you choose to associate. It will affect the way you treat your family, how you interact with others…you possess a testimony; share it. Never underestimate the far-reaching influence of your testimony.

Psalm 77:11-20

It is important to remember the powerful counsel found in Deuteronomy: “Keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life...” Share your testimony with your family; encourage them to remember how they felt when they recognized the Spirit in their lives and to record those feelings in journals and personal histories so that their own words may, when needed, bring to their remembrance how good the Lord has been to them.

Our prayers can become more meaningful as we pray with an attitude of love, reverence and praise

Our prayers can become more meaningful as we pray with an attitude of love, reverence and praise

Our prayers can become more meaningful as we pray with an attitude of love, reverence and praise

Psalm 86:7-13

On one occasion Jesus’s disciples asked, “Lord, teach us to pray”. In response, Jesus gave us an example that might serve as a guide to key principles of prayer…Jesus addressed His Father in an attitude of worship, recognizing His greatness and giving Him praise and thanks. Surely this matter of reverencing God and giving heartfelt and specific thanks is one of the keys to effective prayer… Sometimes we seem to get no answer to our sincere and striving prayers. It takes faith to remember that the Lord answers in His time and in His way so as to best bless us.
